Fishing

Assynt has been poplar destination for those seeking traditional Country Sports since Victorian Times. There are hundreds of fresh water lochs within Assynt holding wild brown trout, and permits are available to fish in all of these lochs – and some have boats available.

There are facilities for disabled anglers at two lochs on the Little Assynt Estate. At Loch Leitr Easaidh and Loch Innse Fraoich boats have been adapted for anglers with limited mobility. Both lochs are accessible via the All Abilities Path created by the Culag Community Woodland Trust http://www.culagwoods.org.uk/page11.html

These lochs feed the two main rivers, the Inver and the Kirkaig. Both of these spectacular spate rivers flow westward to the sea and hold salmon and sea trout.

The Assynt Angling Information website provides a one stop shop on all angling in Assynt as well as an interactive mapping guide to fishing in Assynt www.assyntanglinginfo.org.uk
