Archaeological Dig at Glenleraig

28th July - 30th July | 9:30am-4:30pm
Digging the Clearances with Historic Assynt
Join in or visit Historic Assynt's archaeological excavation. Three days of small scale excavations at the township of Glenleraig, which was cleared in 1812.
All welcome. No experience required.

WHEN
Monday 28th - Wednesday 30th July 2014

WHERE
Glenleraig Beside the B869. East from Drumbeg, go through Nedd and downhill to cross the head of Loch Nedd, then up the hill and look out for parking spots by the fir trees on the right and further along the road on the left.

WHAT
18th century houses that were abandoned when Glenleraig was cleared in 1812. We want to compare these houses with one that was fully excavated three years ago.

Come and get involved or just see what we're doing
Come for as much or as little time as you want between 9.30am and 4pm.
Come prepared for bad weather, wet ground and midges - though it might be dry, warm and sunny!

An illustrated talk and an opportunity to see some of the finds from the 2011 excavation.
