Tigh Guithais

Tigh Guithais is situated on the north side of Lochinver, set into the hillside above the village with only wild life for neighbours. It faces south with lovely views over the sea harbour to the mountains of Suilven and Cul Mor.

It was a crofters cottage, approx 150 years old,and is one of the oldest properties in Lochinver.Originally it was a corrugated iron construction with stone gable walls. It has been tastefully renovated by Graham and now has a steel profile roof with oak shiplap exterior walls all thickly insulated and with double glazing throughout. The age of the cottage makes it an interesting place to stay.It is cosy and comfortable and you can always be sure of a warm welcome from Graham and Rachel.

Our king size, ensuite room, looks out over the bay and mountains. The twin room, with private facilities, has a small conservatory sitting room overlooking the back garden and hillside beyond.

Both rooms are equipped with T.V. tea/coffee facilities, hairdryers and information. We have plenty of off road parking and free wifi for you to enjoy.

Our tariff includes a full Scottish breakfast or breakfast of your choice.

We are a wonderful centre for hill or mountain walking, climbing, fishing, kayaking, wild life spotting. There are many nearby sandy beaches with rocky headlands. We have maps and walk books available to borrow and we even have walking poles you can use.

Wild life watching can be brilliant starting in our own garden. A wide variety of birds visit us, sometimes quite rare ones, cuckoos, buzzards, yellowhammers, or watch our great tits talking with their reflection in our car wing mirrors!Red deer frequently come to our garden fence and look longingly in, and wander into the village-not always popular with inhabitants. A badger visits us regularly and delights in the leftovers from the bird table as well as digging for worms in our lawn!

Dolphins,Orcas,Basking sharks, seals, and otters are regularly seen from Stoer Head and other places around the coast and rivers. Don't forget to visit the tourist office to see live pictures of a Golden Eagle nest.

Boat trips are available from both Lochinver and Kylesku. The trip from Kylesku takes you to see the highest falls in Britain, 200metres high called Eas a' Chual Aluinn,or if you feel energeticyou can walk out to head of the falls.

We hope to have the pleasure of your company be it one night or several.
